There's A New Super In Town. Find Out In The Geek Freak of the Week!

It's A Girl...A New Supergirl

Announced on Friday, February 19 via Instagram, Director Andy Muschietti had some fun with actor Sasha Calle regarding what part she has in the next DCEU solo Flash film due to arrive sometime in 2022. Spoiler: It's Supergirl!

If you're shocked that the Flash movie will have the Girl of Steel, don't be. Supergirl, the series on CW is ending after this current season and fans of the Arrowverse know that both The Flash and Supergirl's actors, Grant Guston and Melissa Benoist, had great chemistry any time their series crossed over. Seeing that was enough to convince Warner Bros to try to capture the same dynamic on the big screen. Or...this just proves that Henry Cavill has moved on from portraying Superman and now it's time to bring in Supergirl instead of recasting. I guess? Maybe? Who knows...they are trying to fix and repair the DCEU one movie at a time.

Justice Is Here

Did you have a crappy Valentine's Day? This past Sunday the first "official" trailer for Zack Snyder's Justice League arrived. The shocking moment, are Batman and Joker...allies?
Zack Snyder's Justice League will be available to stream on March 18 in the U.S.via HBO Max

Global Justice

Notice that the last part said, "in the U.S.". After much debate and pushing by Zack Snyder, his version on Justice League will be available worldwide* the same day it is being released on HBO Max. For anyone overseas, it'll be available for digital download, on-demand, and a few other ways to watch. I added the * to worldwide because release dates will be different in France, China, and Japan. So, this is semi-global justice.

Woo-hoo Boo-Hoo

Well, this sucks. Ducktales will be ending Monday, March 15th on Disney XD. The series, which was relaunched in 2017 has span three seasons and brought back the nostalgia of the show we love about the Duck family. But there's more. We also saw the return of Della Duck, Darkwing Duck, Goofy, the Rescue Rangers, F.O.W.L., and coming soon, some of the members from the Talespin Crew. Starting this Monday, February 22 will begin the countdown to the 90 min series finale on March 15th.

If they can confirm one thing. Can we FINALLY find out who Huey, Dewy, and Louie's father is...we've NEVER had that answered.

This Is A Theme Song?

What in the name of Alpha 5's circuitry is this crap? Here's why I don't like it.

  1. It's too fast. SLOW THE HELL DOWN! YOU'RE GOING TO GIVE THE CHILDREN WATCHING A HEADACHE! Oh, and me as well!
  2. Stop making a music genre love-child. The music is trying to be two different things. Are they going for rock or techno/EDM? Stop playing around and pick ONE!
  3. The lyrics... outside of "go go Power Rangers" what the frak are they saying?! It's hard to understand. Even the closed captioning on YouTube was having a hard time picking it up.

A great example of a theme song for this show (that's not from the original Power Rangers era) whether it's for the motif of the season or the popular music of the time, take a page out of what Power Rangers: Jungle Fury created back in 2008. Listen and watch that here. to understand what I mean.

On a positive note, this season is a first for the franchise. It is the first 100% Hasbro produced seasoned since the company purchased the franchise back in 2018. Let's see how they do.

Power Rangers: Dino Fury begins Saturday morning at 8:00 am on Nickelodeon

Prepare for Kombat

You thought being in Brad Pitt's fight club was deadly? Wait until you see this. Sub Zero is mad and is using people's own blood to kill them. No really, that's done in the trailer. It looks awesome but I know I wouldn't want to be on that end. The red band trailer that was released gives a good indication of why Warner Bros went with the "R" rating.

Mortal Kombat will be available on April 16, 2021.

Don't forget the latest Geek Freak of the Week Podcast episode is available for your earbuds to enjoy. Listen on iHeart Radio via your phone, tablet, or smart speaker. Until next week. I'm Maz and that's the Geek Freak of the Week!
