Had Gabriel Wise stolen a belt, he might still be a free man. But as it turns out, the 37-year-old Florida man is accused of stealing from an unoccupied vehicle, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies caught him on Sunday, they put him in handcuffs and were preparing to put him in the back of a patrol car when Wise decided to make a run for it.
And he appeared to be getting away, too -- until his pants fell down.
With no available hands to hold onto his pants, they dropped down around his ankles and sent Wise on a collision course with the ground. Wise was taken into custody and charged with vehicle burglary, resisting an officer and drug possession. He's being held on $14,500 bond. "Wise won’t have to worry about his pants falling again during his stay," a message posted on the sheriff's Facebook page reads, "because our inmate uniforms fit."
