"Superman" Reboot Reportedly In the Works, Henry Cavill Will Not Return

Another rebooting is coming for Superman, with star Henry Cavill reportedly not involved. Instead, the story is said to be focused around a black Superman according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Author Ta-Nehisi Coates is set to write the script with J.J. Abram's Bad Robot production being brought on as well. Tough for Henry Cavill to fill the role that is going in a different direction, it is expected that he will not return as the Man of Steel.

Abrams told Shadow and Act, “There is a new, powerful and moving Superman story yet to be told. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with the brilliant Mr. Coates to help bring that story to the big screen, and we’re beyond thankful to the team at Warner Bros. for the opportunity.”

No director has signed on to the project just yet.

Cavill has been a fan favorite in the role since he first donned the cape in Man of Steel in 2013. Fans are split on the direction of the franchise and the constant rebooting/recasting that has plagued the DC universe for years.
