Apparently, athletes do use the condoms that are left for them in Olympic Village -- but not necessarily to protect themselves from STDs. Australia's Jess Fox is crediting a prophylactic for her gold medal victory in the women's C1 canoe slalom earlier this week.

In a video posted on TikTok, the 27-year-old Fox can be seen fixing a hole in the nose of her kayak by filling it with a carbon substance and then stretching a condom over it.

She says the latex give the carbon a "smooth finish," adding, "Bet you never knew condoms could be used for kayak repairs." What's the most unconventional thing you've used for a DIY repair?
