Happy National Burrito Day!

Today is National Burrito Day!

We celebrate the Mexican dish wrapped in a tortilla with meat, cheese, tomato, rice, beans, vegetables, and sauces, but flexible to what the cook chooses to be the fillings. From ground beef, shredded chicken, shredded beef or shredded pork, and ranging from black, red, whole or refried beans, as the flexibility of choice applies to the vegetables allowing for grilling or keep them fresh.

The word burrito first appeared in the Dictionary in 1895, as the Guanajuato region of Mexico uses the term that means little donkey in Spanish. The burrito was introduced in the US in the 1930s at the El Cholo Spanish Café in LA, but now its on menus all across the nation.

Head out to your local mexican place or food truck and celebrate the meal that fits in the hand, the Burrito!
