My Weekend: Out in the Cold, Brews, Pic Challenge & BEST Chicken Wings EVER

What happened to the "dangerously low temps" we were supposed to see?

I thought we were looking at -14 wind chills! I guess that was for the top of Mt Washington, or something.

Im asking because this week was MY turn for the "Picture Challenge" we've been doing. If you don't know about it - each week we challenge one person on the show to take a pic of themselves doing something unusual or stupid. Kelly was doing a live broadcast from a bedding store so we asked for a pic of him with a stranger in bed with him (he took a pic with two dudes). Laura had to get a pic of her husband Jeff doing some kind of chore (highly unlikely since she does them all. He's not lazy, mind you- she just loves doing them. I know, I don't get it either). Anyway- she did it. Then Roadkill had to do a snow angel in the middle of the first big storm of the year. And he did.

My challenge was - with the forecasted possible sub zero temps - was do that thing where you throw water into the air and it instantly becomes ice/snow - and falls to the ground. Simple. Unless of course, it isn't COLD ENOUGH to do it! That means- Im just tossing water in the air - and most likely getting soaked!

Still- as a man of my word- I did it. And Im offering my pic challenge in video form - check it out:

And if you're gonna be technical about it- here's your pic.

I also started to rewatch a great HBO series from 12 years ago called - The Newsroom.

Jeff Daniels heads a great cast in a series about a network anchor and his team who decide to start telling the truth instead of playing the network ratings game. It's such a good series- and the opening scene is one of the best EVER. If you've never seen it- here it is -

It's a scene that Jeff Daniels has said saved his career. It's incredible.

I got up early and headed to Portland on Saturday because should there be temps low enough to create "sea smoke" (generated when the water is warmer than the air), there are a lot of vantage points to photograph it from in Portland/South Portland. I ended up at Portland Head Light on Cape Elizabeth

I was driving by this church, on the property of the Maritime College- and it caught my eye. It was dark - 6am dark, and it sits on a hill with Portland in the background. Looked cool- so I jumped out and grabbed a few frames. Sometimes stuff just catches my eye......

And if you ever go to Portland early in the morning - the best breakfast in town is always BECKY'S DINER...

Great staff and great food.

Saturday night was Brew Tour night - and I think we're at about 36 Breweries visited since we started last summer. This time, we stopped at a new place- LITHERMAN'S BREWING CO. in Portsmouth NH!

I had the "PILS TO PAY THE BILLS" brew and it was good! It was a lighter pilsner that didn't have the aftertaste Im not fond of in many beers.

But I have to tell you - as good as the beer was - THE CHICKEN WINGS WERE PHENOMENAL! 603 BAR-B-Q does the food menu there, and their wings might be the best chicken wings I've ever had! I'd give em 11 out of 10 stars- thats how good they were! They are fried wings with a rub and I think a dash of sugar on em - and they're perfect! If you go - ORDER EM. You'll be thanking me, trust me. BRAVO Lithermans and 603 Bar-B-Q

We weren't done though- we made round 2 at what we consider "the Home Base" of the Brew Tour- Corner Point Brewing next to our hometown, in Berwick, Maine.

Sunday was a chill day, watching the Lions win, and waiting for the Bills game! The Bills are leading as I write this 17-13.

So, GO BILLS!

Hope you had a good weekend-
