My Weekend: Cool Places, Guinness, Maple, Picasso and Eagles

Had a really nice weekend and visited a couple of places we'd never been to before that turned out to be awesome!!

We started the Friday night "Brew Crew" tour by heading up to the pub at York Harbor Inn. Love that place. Staff and food are always awesome- and I wanted to have a Guinness (which I never got to have on St Pats Day!)! The pub is a great little place thats perfect for a quiet dinner or drink!

Saturday daytime was all about errands and stuff we had to get done. Groceries, wash the car - that kind of stuff. But on Saturday night- we went with our friends Dave and Jolene and Greg and Rachel to Seacoast Art Spot to do a little painting. But here's the challenge- we weren't painting a landscape- we had to paint our PARTNERS! And if that's not hard enough- we had to paint it LIKE PICASSO WOULD!

Now- I have to admit- I SUCK at painting. Absolutely SUCK. Im talking- there is a very high possibility of a very high suckage quotient when I pick up a paint brush.

The saving grace? Picasso was a weird cat that painted in a style that is clearly above my level of understanding. It's abstract - which is French for "weird". So - you have to sit across from partner and paint them in the abstract style of Pablo Picasso -

And you can't see the results till it is revealed to the whole room - BEFORE YOU SEE IT! It was a lot of fun and we laughed at all of the results- heres what I looked like when I saw what Valerie did-

Both Valerie and I loved the paintings we each did of each other- and heres the results-

Fun night! Thanks to Jodi at Seacoast Artspot in Portsmouth NH on Lafayette Rd for a fun night we all enjoyed!!

Sunday I got up early to shoot the sunrise but it sucked- so - "whaddya gonna do??" - well - you go bird hunting - haha

And then we celebrated Maple Weekend by visiting a couple sugar shacks! Stopped at SugarMommas in Northwoods, and MapleSaint in Deerfield and had a great time seeing how its all done, and the love that the farmers have for doing it! Plus- I got to meet Maizy!! Pretty sure she's running the place! haha - She was adorable and the entire staff we fun to hang out with!

And speaking of cool places- there are two i want to share with you. I don't get anything from mentioning places I go, I just think that if I go to a place or do something i think is cool- I want to tell folks about it. So here's two:

The Brew Crew hit the Wiggly Bridge Distillery in York on Friday night. It was a half an hour before closing and we popped in for a quick drink. The place has a really cool vibe and is only going to get better because they're expanding it very soon to serve food as well with a full service restaurant. It's in a barn on Rt 1 and just has a cool vibe - here's what it looks like from the couch section! (Really cool bartender too-

And secondly- while we were driving to Northwoods - we stopped into a place for breakfast. We went to the Independence Inn in Strafford. Just saw the place as we drove by and I said "THERE!" - so we pulled in.

The restaurant inside is called THE JEFFERSON, and they're only open Thurs-Sun 6am-1:30pm. I absolutely LOVED the place. It's an old inn and they've done a great job with it! There's not a ton of seats, but the feel of the place is awesome from the moment you walk in. The food is excellent. The staff is awesome too- it's the kind of place that you just feel good going to. Positive, upbeat, and great food! I can say the biscuits, home fries, french toast - were off the chart, but we all raved about the food.

So anyway- just wanted to hip you all to a couple of cool spots if you're looking for something different but awesome-

So thats my weekend! Hope you all had a good one!
