In crime news this week-it’s not all bad news, believe it or not.
But you -will-believe this: the one bit of positive crime news to come out of a leftist city is going largely unreported.
That story has Portland lawmakers-finally-allowing Portland police to crack down on smash and grabs and organized retail theft-and guess what?
The crime numbers are down, already, in the few short weeks that Portland police have been allowed to enforce the law.
This comes as downtown Portland is-still-a dangerous crap hole-years after Antifa and BLM rioting. It’s still a lot of boarded up windows and druggies laying in the streets.
And in the larger Portland area-retail theft is up another 80 percent-this year. As bad as retail crime was last year in Portland-it nearly doubled again this year.
It became such a problem for Portland business owners that they finally convinced the entrenched socialists who run the city to do something different-
That’s what led to Portland police finally being allowed to go after the shoplifting rings-and gee-this weekend, alone, Portland police arrested three dozen scumbags and recovered thousands of dollars’ worth of stolen goods.
We will see if these enforcement actions continue now that the word has gotten out that the leftists who run the city are allowing some actual crime prevention to occur-
But so far? In just a few weeks-retail theft is down significantly in Portland.
Why?
Because police are finally being allowed to do their jobs.
But let’s not kid ourselves: now it’s up to the judges in Oregon to actually treat these criminals more harshly and give them actual jail time-instead of just immediately releasing them back onto the streets. That’s the biggest problem that most of our big cities have today-when it comes to law enforcement: by and large, the police are stilling doing-their jobs-in our communities, it’s the das and the liberal judges who are refusing to dole out any consequences or prison time, and in turn, encouraging more crime.
In Washington dc this week-the nearby attorney general in Virginia said that DC’s spirit of lawlessness is scaring away visitors.
The Virginia PDs and DAs say they are ‘holding the line’ and keeping the crime from dc from pouring into their counties....but even so...they are seeing more problems with Mexican cartels.
As for dc’s local leaders? They continue to do nothing substantive about the crime. Mayor Muriel Bowser talks a good game-when cornered-but neither she nor the dc city council have done anything substantive to tackle-or even reduce-the runaway crime.
Meanwhile, the Soros prosecutor for dc is being criticized for a 70 percent decline in the number of cases he prosecuted last year. So far in 2023, that same DA has refused to prosecute 60 percent of the criminal cases that were referred to his office -this year.
Today’s democrats are actively destroying their own communities...and the voters of these crapholes still, somehow, keep voting for them.
Here’s another case-in-point from San Francisco, where the alderman for the tenderloin district-which has become a dystopian hell hole of open-air drug use and zombie drug addicts staggering and pooping in the streets....
Said this week that -yeah, this is all capitalism’s fault.
No kidding.
Capitalism built San Francisco and the rest of America -then spread out to help build and improve the rest of the western globe-and even countries like China and Vietnam...
But...somehow....capitalism is responsible for Frisco’s current druggie and dirty hobo problem.
Not the elected leaders-like him.
This clown’s name is Dean Preston...and he is a self-identifying socialist-blames capitalism
That’s incorrect. Frisco’s homeless. California’s homeless. Aren’t homeless because they were kicked out of their housing.
They’re homeless because they are drug addicts and/or mental patients. Street studies have proven this. The liberal activists who wade into these tent cities and druggie hangouts and deal with these people will tell you: these are the mentally ill and the drug addicted.
These are-not- people who were evicted from their homes and are huddling with their children on the streets-
That’s crap.
There isn’t some romantic, Dickensian, twist to this homelessness problem: it’s the democrats legalizing drugs and encouraging open air, no consequences, drug usage and flopping out in the public areas.
That is 98 percent-what this is.
And they refuse to offer any genuine solution. They refuse to offer any -tough love- that would be helpful.
And instead, they pretend they are being compassionate and caring-as they allow these people to slowly kill themselves with drugs in the streets...or wander around mad from mental illness.
It’s no wonder that-in September Elon Musk tweeted that alderman Preston was probably the person -most responsible-for the destruction of San Francisco.
