(Des Moines, IA) -- A Des Moines man is in custody facing multiple charges accused of leading state troopers on a high speed chase Monday night.

Investigators say 54 year-old Michael Alcantar is facing charges after a state patrol trooper tried to pull him over for speeding on 2nd Avenue. Alcantar refused to stop and led police on a high speed chase up to 90 miles an hour before crashing into the front steps of Aurora Bible Church, during which the car flipped on its side. He was taken into custody after the crash.

Court documents in the case say Alcantar admitted to driving after drinking at a local bar and smoking marijuana all day. He's accused of felony OWI and Interference With Official Acts.
