Paul McCartney's One Hand Clapping is out now!
The Paul McCartney and Wings, remaster is has been a pet project for McCarthy since "Get Back";s success on Disney+. "One Hand Clapping" was recorded by Beatles engineer Geoff Emerick, as the Wings tracks were filmed and recorded at Abbey Road Studios in 1974, by David Litchfield. The project saw McCartney once again envisioning a TV special, as McCartney had a lot of work to do after The Beatles’ disbanded, and that he did creating hit after hit.
“I kind of admire the way Paul started back from scratch, forming a new band and playing in small dance halls,” John Lennon said, “because that’s what he wanted to do with the Beatles — he wanted us to go back to the dance halls and experience that again.”
By 1974, McCartney still had to deal with the defections of Wings members throughout their 70's run, by getting a taste of accomplishment with "Band on the Run". McCartney, then set his sights to hitting the road. "One Hand Clapping," was a look at what that show would be, as McCartney’s would audition guitarist Jimmy McCulloch, and the band would rehearse “Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five” and “Soily.”
Ultimately, the film and album were never released, until 2010, when the film was part of a box set of "Band On The Run," and now the live album itself is out for the world to hear. The release comes with a video released by McCartney which shows the band recording the song in the studio.
