One Dead After Fatal Pedestrian Crash Sunday at Water Works Park

(Des Moines, IA) -- One person is dead after a fatal pedestrian crash Sunday afternoon. Des Moines Police say they were called to 2201 George Flagg Parkway at 3:38 p.m. on Sunday to investigate a vehicle/pedestrian crash. First responders located a six-year-old male victim inside the Fleur Drive entrance to Water Works Park. Police say CPR was performed at the scene, and the boy was transported to a local hospital, but later died. The crash is still under investigation. No word on if the driver will faces any charges.

This is the ninth traffic-related fatality in Des Moines this year, the third involving a pedestrian.
