A rollover crash in Newaygo County claims two lives

GRANT TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Two people have died in a one-car crash in Grant Township.

Newaygo County Sheriff Bob Mendham says in a news release that a preliminary investigation shows the driver of an S-U-V tried to turn around on East 110th Street. But the vehicle went off the road and flipped over into a drainage ditch.

That was around 6 a.m. Thursday. The location was South Oak Avenue in Grant Township.

Police say the 21-year-old Sparta man who was driving the vehicle died, and so did his passenger, a 22-year-old Fremont man.

The Sheriff's Office says it was assisted on scene by Grant Fire Department, Jerry's Towing, Life EMS, Mid-Michigan Medical Examiners Group, and Newaygo County Central Dispatch.

This incident continues.
