AI progression in the job market isn't expected to slow down anytime soon.
Millions of people are also at a risk of being replaced by AI at their job over the next handful of years.
According to a report from the McKinsey Global Institute, AI is expected to replace 2.4 million jobs in the U.S. by 2030. There's also projected to be an additional 12 million occupational shifts. A whopping 400 to 800 million people could lose their jobs because of AI.
The most vulnerable jobs to be replaced are those involved with data entry, telemarketing and customer service.
Entrepreneur and Futurist Peter Shankman told KTRH News that AI isn't going to completely take over the job market, but will be relieving people who aren't good at their jobs.
"If you are bad at your job, AI will make it so that you might not have to do that job," Shankman said. "If you're great at what you do, you're not going to lose your job to AI."
Transportation, warehousing and retail are some of the many industries that have already been utilizing AI to maximize their productivity, but it's not like these industries are totally giving humans the boot. Shankman said people still have to use AI for their labor and make sure the technology is doing what they want it to do for their business.
"It's a shift in how we look at technology, but technology itself is not simply going to replace humans," he said.
Some warehouses for example use AI to move things from point A to point B but it still takes people working there to physically check things and make sure operations are running smoothly.
Shankman expects restaurants and retail stores to pick up on using AI more in a basic sense for their business in the years to come but not to be as advanced as sitting down at a place to eat and have a computer take your order and deliver your food.
