Preparations are underway for Fourth of July celebrations in New York City.
The highlight is the annual Macy's Fireworks show, which will take place over the Hudson River this year. There's also the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island, although this year's competition won't feature long time champion Joey Chestnut. He's not being allowed to compete because of a sponsorship deal he has with a vegan meat company.
With the Fourth of July falling on a Thursday this year many New Yorkers are taking Friday off and traveling for a four-day holiday weekend.
