West Miami, FL - A man is recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the groin after a bizarre shooting outside a South Florida apartment complex on Thursday.
According to West Miami Police, the man fired two shots at his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend around 3:00 p.m.
However, the suspect missed his target and attempted to holster his weapon when it accidentally discharged and struck him in the groin.
West Miami Acting Police Chief Pete Delgado tells Local 10 News shootings in the city are rare, stating "In fact, this is likely the first actual shooting we've had here in over 12 years."
West Miami, nestled between Miami and Coral Gables, has a population of around 7,000 residents.
The man is expected to make a full recovery and will face attempted murder charges upon his release from the hospital.
