(Miami, FL) -- Parts of Florida are in store for another dangerously hot day.

The National Weather Service has Heat Advisories in effect for South Florida, Central Florida, Tampa Bay, the Big Bend, and the Panhandle. Heat index values up to 112 are expected. That could cause heat illness.

The NWS advises drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun, and checking on relatives and neighbors.

Residents and visitors are urged to take precautions to stay safe during the extreme heat:

  1. Seek Air-Conditioned Spaces: Spend time indoors in air-conditioned buildings like community centers, libraries, malls, or movie theaters.
  2. Limit Outdoor Activity: Reduce physical activity and find shaded areas if you need to be outside.
  3. Time It Right: Plan outdoor activities during the cooler morning or evening hours.
  4. Dress Appropriately: Wear lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothing.
  5. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water and electrolyte-rich beverages. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink more.
  6. Avoid Caffeine and Alcohol: These can contribute to dehydration.
  7. Sun Protection: Wear a hat and sunscreen to protect against harmful UV rays.
