Nebraska Escapee Arrested On Rail Coal Car

The Nebraska State Patrol says, with help from Butler and Seward County Sheriff's Deputies, troopers arrest a man who had escaped from the Lincoln Regional Center on Tuesday of this week.

NSP says the Butler County Sheriff’s Office reported they believed Justin Daro was at a residence in Ulysses.

Moments later, Deputies reported Daro had left the residence and fled as they attempted to contact him.

Butler County Deputies pursued Daro’s vehicle as he fled into Seward County, where the vehicle became disabled near a railroad crossing just west of Tamora, south of U.S. Highway 34.

Daro then climbed onto a stopped coal train and began running on top of cars filled with coal.

A State Patrol K9 swung into action onto the train, and Daro jumped onto another stopped train on an adjacent track.

Investigators say a trooper then deployed a bean bag round, which stopped Daro, who continued to resist arrest, but was taken into custody.

The Patrol says Seward County Sheriff's Deputies also assisted.

Daro was checked out at a hospital in Seward before being booked into Lancaster County Corrections.
