Wellfleet Fire Department Updates Dolphin Rescue Efforts

The Wellfleet Fire Department has released an update on the effort to save a group of stranded dolphins.

The bottlenose dolphins became stranded in the waters near Lieutenant Island Road and Wellfleet Fire Group 4 responded with the forestry unit on Tuesday to help save the animals.

The firefighters used water from the forestry unit to cool the dolphins and helped to carry them to vehicles from the International Fund for Animal Welfare.

The Fire Department assisted IFAW in rescuing eleven dolphins that were taken to Herring Cove in Provincetown and released into the ocean.
