Deputy crawls thru moving car's window to rescue man with medical emergency

A Michigan sheriff's deputy is being praised for climbing into a vehicle and helping a dazed man who was driving erratically.

It was all caught on video when it happened at about 2:15 p.m. Sept. 12 in Mount Clemens, Michigan.

According to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, deputies had reports of the man having a medical emergency, driving erratically and eventually found him and tried to pull him over. But the unresponsive driver continued at about 5 miles per hour.

The deputies pulled close alongside the driver and saw that he appeared to be in a daze and was unable to comprehend requests.

They eventually got him to roll down his window and one deputy on the passenger side of the squad tried to enter his vehicle through his driver's side window while both vehicles were still moving.

The driver then hit his brakes and at that point she finished climbing in and put the car in park.

Fire department officials took the man, a 63-year-old, to an area hospital. He is recovering.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham praised the deputy, saying "Due to her quick thinking and selfless actions, she safely ended what could have been a tragic situation.”

The entire scene got caught on video. Watch it here.
