IN BLANKSTARE NEWS: Is going on vacation a hassle?

A new survey found that getting ready to go on vacation feels like a job, with the average person saying they have at least six chores on their to-do list before they go.

Vacations are great. Getting ready for them? Not so much. A new survey found that getting ready to go on vacation feels like a job, with the average person saying they have at least six chores on their to-do list before they go. Some of the things at the top of the to-do list include: Packing (80%), doing last-minute shopping (70%), cleaning the house (54%), making sure friends and family have a key to the house in case of an emergency (50%), arranging for someone to take care of the pet (47%), cleaning out the fridge (46%), arranging transportation, and unplugging appliances (38%).

Seeking extra peace of mind, vacationers typically perform two “last looks” around their house to make sure they didn’t forget anything and that everything is in order before they leave. Despite that, 22% often turn the car around and go back home to get something they forgot or do one final check before continuing their trip.
