Jaguars Injury Updates

Fox Sports Radio Jacksonville

Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson shared injury updates for tight end Evan Engram and safety Darnell Savage Jr. ahead of the Jaguars Monday Night Football matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

Evan Engram suffered a hamstring injury during pregame warmups in Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns. Engram was considered "week-to-week" by Pederson on Monday.

On Thursday, Pederson's update on Engram's status changed to "day-by-day" coach indicated he is not ready to return to the field.

“Evan, right now, he’s a little bit further away,” Pederson said. “So, you know, we’ll have to take it kind of day-by-day right now with him.”

In Week 1 vs the Miami Dolphins, Engram recorded just one reception for four yards. In Week 2, Brenton Strange took the TE 1 snaps and recorded a career-high three receptions for 65 yards.

Darnell Savage also missed the Cleveland game after suffering a quadriceps injury in practice last Thursday that kept him sidelined.

Coach Pederson noted that Savage has yet to return to practice after not participating last week.

“Sav, we’re going to work back into practice a little bit today and sort of get him progressed,” Pederson said. “So hopefully he is available for Week 3.”

With Savage sidelined vs the Browns, Andrew Cisco and Antonio Johnson were the two starting safeties.

Savage signed a three-year, $21.8 million deal with Jacksonville in March. In Week 1 vs the Dolphins he recorded two passes defended.

Cornerback Christian Braswell was elevated from the practice squad after Savage was ruled out vs the Browns. The preseason standout did not take a snap on defense but saw action on five special teams snaps.
