(Iowa City, IA) -- It now costs less to park in Iowa City's central business district.
The Iowa City Council voted to reduce metered parking rates in the area from $3 to $2.25. The city says the decision was made in response to public feedback and concerns from local businesses. The city council also voted to introduce a new parking permit for evenings and weekends that offers permit holders parking from 4pm-9am during the week and any time on the weekend.
The parking permit costs $67.50.
