Generation Z is more hesitant to want to move up in their industry and they even have a term for it.
Gen Zers are more reluctant to taking a promotion or moving up in their industry. They're referring to it as ‘conscious unbossing.’ It pretty much means young workers refuse to take on more responsibility.
According to a new survey, around 52 percent of Gen Zers admit to not wanting to advance into management roles or file into a better-paying position with potentially more work on their plate.
International keynote speaker and author Josh Evans says young people are shying away too much from opportunity.
"People in younger generations are refusing to climb the management ladder," he said. "They're really just rejecting career advancement."
There are some factors to this for the generation too and their 'conscious unbossing.' There's a perceived stress avoidance and it could move them off the actual work that they desire.
"They see that their managers have huge workloads and they don't think that the juice is worth the squeeze," Evans explained.
Evans said there is good news for Baby Boomers who aren't ready to retire just yet, but problems may arise for employers trying to eventually fill the higher-level positions.
"This will be a huge headache for existing managers that are looking for replacements before they can continue their growth," Evans said.
