Jennifer Hudson turned her mic on and unleashed her powerful vocals to honor the late, great Whitney Houston at the AMAs.

The singer and TV host had the honor of paying tribute to the iconic artist during the 50th anniversary special of the American Music Awards on Sunday night, October 6. After an incredible video montage of Houston's AMA achievements and a stellar introduction from Samuel L. Jackson, Hudson hit the stage and began her set with "I Loves You Porgy," which Houston performed at the 1994 AMAs. She closed out by delivering her rendition of Houston's "I Will Always Love You."

This is the third time Hudson has paid tribute to "The Voice" throughout her career. The EGOT paid homage to Houston by crooning one of her classics during the 2010 BET Honors with the singer in the audience. Two years later, Jennifer Hudson delivered a tear-jerking tribute to Houston at the 54th Grammy Awards on the night after the iconic artist died in 2012. Hudson belted out her best version of "I Will Always Love You" at each performance.

Whitney Houston is one of the most prolific winners in AMA history. The late singer earned at least 22 awards during her lifetime. Hudson's performance was one of several sentimental performances that went down as part of the AMAs' 50th anniversary special. Fans also got to see Gladys Knight make her epic comeback to the AMA stage, and Mariah Carey perform her classic hit "We Belong Together."
