Shirley Manson is recovering from "major surgery" after sustaining an undisclosed injury over the summer that forced Garbage to cancel tour dates.

"She lives," the band simply captioned a photo of the singer in a hospital bed on Instagram. Manson followed that up with a more detailed health update.

"I’m choosing to remind myself, as I lie here trying to recover from major surgery, that there are still beautiful things in the world. Animals, flowers, oceans, trees. I’m so grateful to all the people who have gone out of their way to love on me, take care of me, check in on me. I cling on to their kindness and their thoughtfulness and their care," she wrote in the lengthy message. "Mostly I have spent the week in bed. Mostly I have been doomscrolling."

In the rest of the message, Manson spoke about the conflicts happening in Gaza and Lebanon and called for a ceasefire. "It must end.
For the sake of everyone. And everyone means everyone - all as one and everywhere," she ended the caption.

Although the details surrounding her injury and surgery have not been disclosed, Garbage recently unveiled 2025 tour dates. See both of Manson's posts below.
