Former President Trump spoke at the 2024 Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner Thursday evening. Trump addressed the crowds and joked about his recent legal troubles when he said he was just happy to show up anywhere without a subpoena.
Trump called VP Harris "very disrespectful" for not making an appearance. The event, held in New York, benefits Catholic charities and was hosted by comedian Jim Gaffigan, who also heavily criticized Vice President Harris for not attending.
Harris instead addressed the fundraiser with a pre-recorded video message that was booed by the crowd. This is the first time a presidential candidate has missed the Al Smith Dinner in decades.
