Nicki Minaj Upsets Lil Kim Fans!

Nicki Minaj is dealing with several rivalries, but her ongoing feud with Lil Kim remains one of the most talked-about. Recently, during the Vogue Forces of Fashion event in New York City on October 16, Nicki unintentionally sparked more debate. Fans of Lil Kim were upset after Nicki claimed that she was the first rapper to name her fanbase, the Barbz, and that no rappers did this before her. She pointed to Justin Bieber's Beliebers and Lady Gaga's Little Monsters as examples from other music genres. Nicki stated, "Before I had a record deal, my fans were already making a name for themselves on Twitter. I had already given them a name. At that time, no rappers were naming their fans. Now, every artist gives their fans a name, even in other countries. I didn’t expect it to catch on in hip-hop, but the Barbz are still the best." However, Lil Kim's fans quickly responded, arguing that Kim was the first to name a fan base with the Beehive over 20 years ago. One fan pointed out, "Maturing is realizing Nicki Minaj’s number one goal is to take credit for EVERYTHING Lil’ Kim contributed. KIM WAS THE FIRST RAPPER to name their fan base (BEEHIVE) way back in the early 2000s. Sorry Nicki, but fan base names existed BEFORE the internet."

This discussion also brought other female rappers like Foxy Brown into the mix. More reactions can be found below.
