The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has its hands full removing illegally placed campaign signs.
A spokesman for the agency says election years always see a flood of signs being put near state roads. He says putting the signs in a state right-of-way is against the law because it may cause a sight obstruction or a distracting safety hazard.
In addition to being illegal, it's not the best way to promote a campaign.
The signs are taken to the maintenance unit, and the owner has 30 days to come get them.
