Kim Kardashian channeled the People's Princess' style in a daring fashion statement, wearing one of Princess Diana's very own prized jewelry pieces for a risqué look at a recent event.

The SKIMS founder attended the LACMA Art+Film Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday (November 2), stunning in a plunging white Gucci gown with a neckline stretching down to her waist, paired with a cream cape. While the dress itself was jaw dropping enough, Kardashian's choice of jewelry is what really set it apart.

In addition to a large pearl necklace and short diamond necklaces, the Kardashians star wore a large vintage amethyst cross pendant by Garrard that once belonged to Princess Diana, per E! News. While the Princess of Wales wore the show-stopping piece with a Catherine Walker Victorian-style gown at a charity even in 1987, Kardashian shortened the length of the chain so the pendant sat over her bare chest.

According to Sotheby's, Kardashian purchased the pendant — which includes 5.25 carats worth of square-cut amethysts and circular-cut diamonds — at a 2023 auction for more than double the pre-auction estimate at $197,453. Her purchase also caused a bit of a stir online at the time.

"This is a bold piece of jewelry by its size, color and style which cannot fail to make a vibrant statement, whether it be of faith or fashion — or indeed both," Kristian Spofforth, head of jewelry for Sotheby's London, said at the time. "We are delighted that this piece has found a new lease of life within the hands of another globally famous name."
