As the saying goes, big things come in small packages.
While big cities have an abundance of attractions, entertainment venues and restaurants compared to their less-populated counterparts, small towns allow visitors a chance to better see the heart of what makes the town so special and often offer some truly unique experiences you won't find anywhere else.
Travel Curator compiled a list of 35 of the "best and coolest small towns" in the U.S., the small-but-mighty destinations worth visiting that are sure to make a trip just as memorable as a bigger city. Among the list of locales like stunning California hideaways, charming country towns in Texas and sunny cities in Florida are two spots in Washington.
According to the site, Port Townsend, praised for its natural beauty, and Leavenworth, for its picturesque mountain views, are some of the best small towns in the entire country. Here's what the site had to say about these cool spots:
Port Townsend
"This coastal community is home to exquisite Victorian architecture, breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains, and distinctive dining and shopping options.
