Counting on Chaos: Post-Election Delays Feed Frustration

Election Day has come and gone, but the drama may be just beginning. Several states are already warning of delayed results, leading to concerns about a repeat of 2020, when vote counting dragged on for days after the election. This year, Pennsylvania is warning about delays in counting mail-in ballots, while Arizona's largest county is warning it may take 10-13 days to count ballots.

All of these delays only feed into confusion, suspicion and distrust among voters. "We're in the information age where everything is at our fingertips instantly, and yet somehow we've not doubled, tripled, quadrupled, quintupled the amount of time it takes to actually get election results," says Anthony Russo, political analyst and podcast host. "Which leads to the philosophy that we just can't believe our election cycles anymore."

"So the longer it takes, I think the bigger the unrest especially for the Republican or MAGA voter, since they are already suspicious," he adds.

Russo warns that whatever the ultimate result is, a longer delay could mean more unrest for the losing side. "This works both ways, because the left will also feel that they've been disenfranchised if they end up losing," he tells KTRH. "All it does is create more tension come the time they actually announce who the winner of the presidency will be."

"The longer it takes to get a winner, just the more dangerous it becomes."
