Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee was announced as the latest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit athlete on Monday (November 4).
Lee, 21, who won gold twice and medaled six times for Team USA in gymnastics at the pandemic-delayed 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Olympics, wore a brown bikini in several videos shared on SI Swim's Instagram stories ahead of the 2025 issue set for release in May.
“Is this real life???” Lee wrote on her own Instagram Story, sharing a behind the scenes snapshot.
Lee, who was recently named Glamour's 2024 Woman of the Year, posed for the photoshoot in Boca Raton, Florida, according to SI Swimsuit.
“We are thrilled to launch our shoot season for the 2025 issue with an extraordinary lineup of powerful female athletes,” SI Swimsuit editor in chief MJ Day shared. “This remarkable group, featuring Olympic medalists, world champions, and record holders, embodies the next generation of all-stars poised to transform the world of sports. They defy stereotypes and champion equality, inspiring young girls to envision themselves as both athletes and leaders. At SI Swimsuit, we’ve always celebrated the future of women, and there’s no better way to honor these remarkable achievements than by featuring them on the pages of our issue.”
Lee won gold in the team event and bronze in the all-around and uneven bars at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as well as gold in the all-around event, silver in the team event and bronze in the uneven bars at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
