28-year-old Reign Tapiato pleaded guilty in September to 1st-degree manslaughter.
Prosecutors say he shot 16-year-old Jakarah Lopez-Moore in the head, just hours after she left her home on Weld Street in August of last year.
Jakarah's body was found in some woods on the city's west side two months later.
