After what may become known as the most contentious election in recent American history, former President Donald Trump is currently expected to win a major victory with 277 electoral votes, becoming the 47th President of the United States of America.

As of 4:45a.m. this morning, the race has been called by Fox News, The Associated Press, The New York Times, and even CNN.

Trump was able to secure early leads in the swing states of Georgia and North Carolina last night, which many supporters of the former President took as a strong indicator that he was going to perform well throughout the rest of the evening.

Not long after, Trump began to pick up ground in the Rust Belt states of Wisconsin and Michigan. As of 3:30 am Central Time, Fox News had predicted that Trump would win Wisconsin, meaning Vice President Kamala Harris had essentially no path to victory.

The final blow for VP Harris was, of course, Pennsylvania, which Trump is expected to win by a margin of 50 to 48.

Trump is also showing a strong lead in the state of Michigan, where, as of 3:30 am, he had a four-point lead over Kamala Harris. Trump also has strong leads in both Nevada and Arizona. Those three states have yet to be called.

Trump has officially declared victory in the race. In his victory speech, he said, "We've been through so much together, and today you showed up in record numbers to deliver a victory really like no other."

Harris has yet to make a formal statement, but according to reports from her campaign headquarters at Howard University, the situation is looking bleak. A CNN reporter on the ground said, "The operative word here is silence."

Harris is expected to give a statement later this morning.

El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele has become the first world leader to recognize Trump's projected victory. He congratulated Trump in a post on X.
