Sandwiches sold in stores in a few states around the country, including Missouri, have been recalled after an ingredient was linked to a previous recall over listeria concerns.

CIBUS Fresh has recalled its Autumn Turkey Sandwich — distributed under the labels CIBUS Fresh, Jack & Olive, and Sprig and Sprout — due to the presence of Glenview Farms Spreadable Brie. The brie was one of several soft spreadable cheeses that were previously recalled due to the potential of being contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, according to a recall notice shared November 8 by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.

These are the products affected by the recall

  • CF Autumn Turkey Sandwich — Item Code 79616, UPC 00810028251915, Expiration Date 11/02/24 to 11/09/24
  • J&O Autumn Turkey Sandwich — Item Code 79615, UPC 00810028251915, Expiration Date 11/02/24 to 11/09/24
  • S&S Autumn Turkey Sandwich — Item Code 84408, UPC 00810028251915, Expiration Date 11/03/24 to 11/09/24

The recalled products were distributed to six states: Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio and Tennessee. According to the FDA, no other CIBUS Fresh products were included in the recall.

Listeria monocytogenes is the bacteria that can cause listeria, leading to "serious and sometimes fatal infections" that can cause severe illness in high-risk groups like children, the elderly, those who are pregnant and persons with weakened immune systems, according to the FDA. Symptoms can include fever, chills, headaches, muscle aches, nausea and diarrhea.

Anyone who has purchased these products should either throw them out or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. For more information about the recall, visit fda.gov.
