(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The kidnapping and first-degree murder trial of McKinley Lousima is now in the hands of the jury.
Prosecutors contend Louisma and co-defendant Dakota Van Patten planned and executed the murder of Louisma's ex-girlfriend Melody Hoffman before dumping her body at Lily Lake in Amana in February.
The defense says Louisma was coerced by Van Patten at gunpoint into a kidnapping-for-ransom scheme that escalated into murder.
Louisma faces life in prison without parole.
