In 1975 Queen hit big with the release of their album "A Night At The Opera"!
Their fourth album, followed the success of "Sheer Heart Attack" the year before, with the release of singles "Your My Best Friend" and the iconic "Bohemian Rhapsody". Produced by Roy Thomas Baker, it was the most expensive album ever recorded at the time of its release, as it was recorded at various studios across a four-month period due to management issues. Queen's lack of money earned for their previous albums, lead to their ending their contract with Trident Studios.
A Night at the Opera was an instant hit and became the band's first platinum, with "Bohemian Rhapsody", becoming their first number one song. This of course lead to a world tour which would kick-off in Liverpool at the Empire Theatre, for two nights before blazing a trail around the world. The tour was their most successful and profitable to that time, making up for the difficulties of the last tour where dates had to be cancelled due to Freddy Mercury's laryngitis.
A Night At The Opera took Queen from being a popular British glam band to fully formed rock icons known and followed around the world, as the bands sound would evolve and become more complex throughout the rest of the 70's and into the 80's. For two nights in Liverpool, the reign of Queen began at The Empire before marching over the world!
