Dolly Parton unveiled new stories about her family and her life in East Tennessee. The globally-beloved country star teamed up with her family to release a 37-track record, Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith and Fables, on Friday (November 15).

Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith and Fables includes collaborations with Parton’s cousin Richie Owens, sister Stella Parton, sister (and Good Lookin’ Cookin’ cook book co-author) Rachel Parton George, and many other relatives. Parton referred to the album “a project near and dear to my heart,” in a video she posted on Instagram on Friday to announce the record's debut. “So, if you’re looking to understand a little bit more about where I came from, pick up a copy and discover the music that tells the story of our family.

“I owe so much to all the family members past and present who have inspired me along this musical journey,” Parton said. “I am honored to spotlight our families’ musical legacy that is my Smoky Mountain DNA.”

Per a statement on the website dedicated to the album, “this project is dedicated to preserving Dolly’s family history through thorough research and compelling storytelling. We are proud to have received recognition for our contributions to cultural heritage and the arts.” The page also pays trounce to members of Parton’s family who appear on Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith and Fables.
