Daytona, FL - Authorities are investigating a chilling discovery after deputies found a large amount of human blood in a public restroom with no sign of its source.

The blood was discovered on November 1tth during a security check by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at Hidden Trails Park in Daytona North, Florida.

“Deputies confirmed it was human blood, but no individuals were found in the area, and there were no immediate leads regarding its source,” the sheriff's office said in a statement released Nov. 14.

Search dogs combed the rural area surrounding the park, which is about 80 miles south of Jacksonville, but found no evidence or persons of interest.

The blood appeared fresh enough to suggest it was connected to an incident that occurred earlier that day.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly is urging anyone who noticed anything unusual at Hidden Trails Park to come forward.

“Whatever happened could be just an accident or something more serious. Any information from the public could be critical to helping us determine what occurred,” Staly said.

Hidden Trails Park spans 20 acres and features a fitness trail, playground, basketball court, horseshoe pits, tennis courts, and a volleyball court. Investigators continue to work on the case, asking anyone with information to contact the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office immediately.
