Finally, Fleetwood Mac will get a proper chronicle of their career.
Filmmaker Frank Marshall is directing the project for Apple tv, and will include interviews with Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, along with archival interviews with Christine McVie, and additional unseen footage chronicling Fleetwood Mac’s 50-plus-year career.
Of all the bands in rock music Fleetwood is one of the most in dire need of a proper chronicle, as common fans know precious little of the band's roots. Fleetwood Mac hit it big in the mid to late 70's and for the common music fan that is the only line-up they know. Today the band is known more as being a pop-rock group rather than the blues rock band they started as in the late 60's.
The project is in capable hands with Marshall, whose recently directed The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, Carole King & James Taylor: Just Call Out My Name, Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Story, and The Beach Boys.
“I am fascinated by how this incredible story of enormous musical achievement came about,” Marshall said in a statement. “Fleetwood Mac somehow managed to merge their often chaotic and almost operatic personal lives into their own tale in real time, which then became legend. This will be a film about the music and the people who created it.”
