Naples, FL - Naples, Florida, has been crowned the best place to retire in the United States.
According to U.S. News & World Report, the Gulf Coast city earned the top spot for its sunny weather, low crime rates, vibrant community, and an array of entertainment options.
Naples isn’t the only Florida city recognized as a retirement haven.
Sarasota ranked No. 4, and Jacksonville came in at No. 7, making Florida the only state with three cities in the top 10.
“Florida has long been known as a top destination,” wrote U.S. News in its Nov. 18 report. “Many retirees are looking for warm weather, abundant activities, low taxes, and access to quality health care.”
Naples, located about 165 miles south of Tampa, boasts:
- A high desirability ranking: It placed No. 3 for desirability in a survey of over 3,500 people by SurveyMonkey, reflecting strong interest from retirees.
- A vibrant lifestyle: With shopping centers, sports complexes, and coastal entertainment options, Naples offers a unique blend of luxury and relaxation.
- A retirement-friendly population: About one-third of residents are aged 65 and older.
However, affordability remains a challenge, with a median home price of $577,000—more than twice the national average of $281,000.
“Naples offers retirees resort-style living and a vibrant community,” said Patty Campbell, president of GL Homes’ Florida West Coast Division.
To compile the list, U.S. News analyzed 150 of the nation’s largest cities, evaluating them across six categories: happiness, affordability, health care, taxes, desirability, and the job market.
Naples continues to set itself apart not only as a premier retirement destination but also as one of the most desirable places to live in the U.S., offering a mix of natural beauty, luxury, and community appeal.
For retirees seeking warm weather and a high quality of life, Naples remains a standout choice.
