Oops! Some New Jersey taxpayers got a second anchor tax refund by mistake

The New Jersey Treasury Department has confirmed an unknown number of state taxpayers were mistakenly sent an additional Anchor Tax refund payment. A spokesperson for the department told NJ Advance Media the extra payments "primarily resulted from our anti fraud measures." Residents who received the double payment got a check in the mail after the refund money was direct deposited into their bank account. The spokesman went on to say it's expected the checks went out to " a very small number of applicants." If you did get the extra check don't cash it. The Treasury Department wants the checks mailed back to them at this address:

The Department of Treasury, New Jersey Division of Taxation, P.O. Box 266, Trenton, New Jersey 08965-0266. Awe Shucks!
