FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State swim and dive team will split for two invitationals this week. Swimmers will head east to St. George for the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational at the UT HPC Pool and divers will head to Flagstaff for the NAU Lumberjack Invite at Wall Aquatics Center. Utah Tech Invite and NAU Invite will begin on Thursday, Nov. 21 through Saturday, Nov. 23.

Fresno State will compete in both invites for the third time in program history

Fresno State will see four more meets and one diving invite before the MW Conference Championships in Houston beginning Feb. 19

Freshmen Sienna Cheng-Lucey and Ryley Clark grabbed their first event wins of their career this past weekend at the tri-meet with CSUB and FPU in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke, respectively

Freshman diver Parker Connor also grabbed her first event win in the 1-meter springboard at the tri-meet in Bakersfield this past weekend

'Dogs have seen an eleven day break since their last competition on Nov. 9

Six Bulldog swimmers have collected points in the last two meets: Aliz Kalmar, Sera Hanagan, Ryley Clark, Julia Matney, Samantha Arredondo

Bulldogs will see a large pool of competition over the course of the week.

Fresno State saw six commitments over the last week for the upcoming 2025-26 season, Hayley Oke (Muskoka, ON), Audrey Hill (Chula Vista, Calif.), Kale Burk (San Luis Obispo, Calif.), Presley McPhail (Riverside, Calif.), Caroline Grimsley (Gilbert, Ariz.), Safiyah Supreme (Gilbert, Ariz.)

SEASON UPDATE

After this week, Fresno State will be more than halfway done with the 2024-25 season. So far the 'Dogs have seen a 2-1 record in dual meets with wins over Fresno Pacific and CSU Bakersfield and a loss to conference opponent, Nevada. After this weekend, 'Dogs will see a long rest period before they return for the New Year to host Pepperdine at the Fresno State Aquatics Center Jan. 11-12.

TRAILBLAZER INVITE

The three day Trailblazer Invite will be a prelims - finals format, with the preliminary session beginning at 10 a.m. MT / 9 a.m. and finals to follow at 5:00 p.m. MT/ 4:00 p.m. PT. The invite features a total of 16 teams, 11 of which will be women's. Bulldogs will see ten other teams in the pool this weekend, Utah Tech, UC Davis, Northern Colorado, Pepperdine, San Diego, UC San Diego, Cal Baptist, UC Santa Barbara, CSU Bakersfield and Pacific.

The top 32 women will compete in finals with only the consolation and final heat eligible for scoring (top 16). Athletes may only score in seven events total, four individual events. Long distance events such as the 1650 and 1000 freestyle will be times finals and only swam once.

The last time out Aliz Kalmar, Sera Hanagan and Wiktoria Dabrowska held it down for the 'Dogs finishing in the top 20 overall. Fresno State has their sights set on upping last year's third place finish.

LUMBERJACK INVITE

All four divers will make the trip to Flagstaff this week, Grace Ally, Averee Estep, Parker Connor and Natalia Bedolla. Divers will be competing in the 1 & 3 meter springboard events as well as the Platform and team event. Connor is entering her first collegiate invitational on a high note, coming off an event win in the 1-meter springboard on Nov. 9. Teams participating in the invitational are University of Idaho, UC Davis, Colorado State, New Mexico State, Cal Poly with a total of 48 divers entered.

At last year's invite, Ally took the lead with an event win in the platform, 3rd in the 1-meter and 5th in the 3-meter springboard. Estep's highest placing was 28th in the platform.
