After spending the last seven years in foster care, in Dallas, Texas, 17-year-old Eden has finally found his forever home just in time for Thanksgiving. Eden, who’s on the autism spectrum, was featured on local news back in 2019 when he was 11, expressing his wish to be adopted. Then last year, he was featured on the news again, four years older and worrying about aging out of the foster care system. Shortly after this second appearance and just one day before his 17th birthday, he was adopted by Kelli and Jeff Bouck.
The Boucks recognized Eden from TV and felt an instant connection. “That was my son!” Kelli recalls saying when she saw the feature. Eden now has a mom, dad, and four siblings, two who are also on the autism spectrum. He says his heart is filled with gratitude for everyone who helped him on his journey.
This Thanksgiving, Eden will celebrate with his new family, marking the beginning of a new chapter. His adoptive parents say something was missing from their lives before he made their family complete. “I really love them,” Eden says, unable to contain his happiness and appreciation for his adoptive family. “Eden is here!” Kelli says in response, “Once and for all. You’re our son!”
