ABOUT THE MATCH UP
Fresno State and CSUN will meet for the 30th time in program history and for the 15th time at the Save Mart Center. Fresno State leads the all-time meetings 22-7 and at home 11-3. The last meeting between the two came on Nov. 23, 2021 in Fresno, the Matadors held off the Bulldogs by six points, 81-75. The Matadors come to Fresno on a three game win streak in the series, with two of those wins being in Fresno.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
It was just meant to be Mia Jacobs. Jacobs was tabbed as the Mountain West's Player of the Week (Nov. 18) for the first time this season and second time in her career. Marching into Friday, Jacobs is the Mountain West's top scorer with 97 points (19.40 avg), T1 in steals with 15 (3.30 avg) and takes third in rebounds with 49 (9.8 avg).
The 6-foot-2 forward led the Bulldogs to a 3-0 week with wins over UC Riverside (63-53), Southern Utah (67-59) and UC San Diego (65-53). Averaged 18 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. In over 100 minutes of play, shot 51.5 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the charity stripe. Against UC Riverside, registered a double-double with 21 points and a career-high 15 rebounds along with two steals, one assist and one block. Against Southern Utah, tallied 26 points and five rebounds. Also contributed three steals, two assists and one block for the Bulldogs. At UC San Diego, notched seven points, nine rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one block.
TOP GUNS FROM BEYOND THE ARC
In just six days the Bulldogs doubled their scoring efforts from beyond the arc. Against UC Riverside the 'Dogs logged 6-of-17 from the three-point line, at UC San Diego, Fresno State went 12-of-30 from the three.
Leading the charge was Kylee Fox with five three-pointers made, followed by Mariah Elohim (4) and Saga Ukkonen (3). At San Diego, Elohim opened the game with her first two made shots of the game coming from beyond the arc and let her third one rip in the final thirty seconds. Fox saw her highest made in the second half with three.
Fresno State ranks 4th in 3-Point FG made with 37 (7.40) through five games, Fox takes a tie at 6th (11, 2.20 avg), Ukkonen ties at 10th (9, 1.80 avg) and Elohim also tied for 14th (8, 1.60).
CAREER NIGHT FOR FOX
Kylee Fox hit a career-high game in the Bulldogs first road win of the season at UC San Diego. Fox logged 21 points, 7 rebounds and matched her career-high 5 3PFGM, also marking her first 20+ point game of her career and season.
Prior to UCSD, Fox went back-to-back games matching her previous career-high 19 points against UCR and Southern Utah. Fox, all too familiar with the three-point line, banked five three-pointers with ten attempts matching her career-high for the third time. Through five games Fox totals 60 points, 23 rebounds, 11 three-pointers, five steals and two blocks.
