To prepare for smoother airline travel experiences during this Thanksgiving rush, and beyond, American Airlines is cracking down on "gate lice," which is a term describes passengers who cut lines in hopes of boarding a flight early.
After trying it out in a handful of locations last month, American is rolling its new system out at over 100 airports. The new system “audibly flags” when a passenger attempts to board the plane before their group is called and automatically rejects the ticket, sending the offending passenger to the back of the line.
The end result is a bit of public shaming for those who are cutting in line, as well as a less chaotic boarding process for those who are following the rules.
