Most Americans reportedly approve of President-elect Donald Trump's handling of his administration's transition back into the White House and feel optimistic about his upcoming term, according to a CBS News/YouGov survey published on Sunday (November 24).
An estimated 59% of Americans support moves made by Trump, 78, so far, which includes a cabinet of individuals he described as "disrupters," while 41% disapprove of his decisions since being elected. Additionally, 23% of respondents said they were "excited" about what Trump would do during his upcoming term, while 30% were "optimistic," 23% were "concerned" and 23% were "scared."
The president-elect made his final cabinet selections last week, which will need to be approved by the Senate. Health and Human Services Secretary-designate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. scored the highest approval rating of any cabinet selection with 47% of respondents viewing him as a "good" pick while 34% said he was "not good."
Secretary of State-designate Marco Rubio was viewed as "good" by 44% and "not good" by 25%, while Director of National Intelligence-designate Tulsi Gabbard was viewed as good by 36% and "not good" by 27% and Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth was viewed as "good" by 33% and "not good" by 28%. Trump's least favorable selection was former Rep. Matt Gaetz, who was viewed as "not good" by 38% percent of respondents and "good" by 30%.
Gaetz announced his decision to withdraw from consideration to become Trump's attorney general -- which former Florida attorney general Pam Bondi was later selected for -- in a post shared on his X account Thursday (November 21) amid allegations of sexual misconduct.
