The Oklahoma Sooners dominated Alabama on Saturday night, defeating the Crimson Tide 24-3.
Quarterback Jackson Arnold completed 9 of 11 passes for 68 yards and rushed 25 times for a game and career-high 131 yards. This was his first career 100-yard rushing game and OU’s first by a quarterback since last season when Dillon Gabriel rushed for 113 yards vs. Texas. Arnold’s 131 rushing yards tied Jalen Hurts for the sixth most by an OU QB in a game since 2000.
OU outgained the Crimson Tide 325-234 in total yardage. Alabama’s 234 yards were its fewest of the season by 79 yards.
Kip Lewis returned an interception 49 yards for a touchdown. He became just the third linebacker in OU history with two pick-sixes in the same season (had a 63-yarder at Auburn).
This was the first time OU held a top-10 opponent to three or fewer points since the No. 2 Sooners beat No. 5 Texas 12-0 in 2004.
It was first time Alabama did not score a touchdown since the 2011 season (lost 9-6 vs. LSU).
Oklahoma has won its home finale in each of the last 10 seasons and in 22 of the last 23 years. Eight of the 22 victories have come against AP top-25 teams and two were against top-10 teams (the other was in 2008 against No. 2 Texas Tech [won 65-21])
Oklahoma is now bowl eligible for the 26th consecutive season. Entering this year, OU owned the nation’s second-longest bowl streak at 25 years, trailing only Georgia (27 years).
Attendance for Saturday’s game was 84,053, marking OU’s 159th straight sellout of an originally scheduled home game, dating back to the start of the 1999 season. It is the nation’s second-longest current streak.
The Sooners are now 6 and 5 on the season. Up next, Oklahoma will travel to Louisiana on Saturday, November 30, to play LSU. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
