Have you visited the most beautiful destination in all of Illinois?
Illinois has no shortage of stunning sights, both natural and manmade, but which is the most beautiful?
Be it glorious views or a unique atmosphere you simply cannot find anywhere else in the country, something about this one-of-a-kind location sets it apart from the rest.
According to an updated list compiled by Only In Your State, the most beautiful place in Illinois is the Garden of the Gods Wilderness in the Shawnee National Forest. This magical destination, also named the "one place you must see before you die" in Illinois, was praised for its camp sites and beautiful trails.
Here's what Only In Your State had to say about the most beautiful place in the entire state:
"This gorgeous stretch of forest and exposed cliffs is in southern Illinois. Created by glacial activity, this is one of the most scenic areas in the state, therefore the most photographed. The park is open daily and its campground is open year-round. Camping is only $10/night. You can access the picnic area and 0.25-mile Observation Trail between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. and parking is available at the Observation Trailhead."
