Terri Clark took Godâs Country listeners back to 90s country when she appeared on a recent episode of the podcast, hosted by brother duo Dan and Reid Isbell. Together, the trio delivered a rendition of Clarkâs âBetter Things To Do,â a hit single from her self-titled record in 1995, plus they shared discussions about their love of the outdoors, country music, reminisced on Clarkâs journey from performing in bars to taking the Ryman Auditorium stage, and more.
âWhat a freaking cool conversation to have with someone whoâs contributed so much to our genre and this town,â the Isbell brothers said as they premiered the Godâs Country episode with Clark. Dan and Reid said it âwas so freaking fun,â hosting Clark on the show, and hailed her âhilarious and iconic.â Listen to the full episode here.
âThis week Reid and Dan Isbell host Grand Ole Opry Member and Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame Member, Terri Clark, out in God's Country. Dan immediately dives in on the hot take of how terrible it is to host a kid's birthday party during deer season, even though he's guilty of doing it in September. Terri shares her love of northern pike fishing, bass fishing, and how much more fun touring is when there is a good lake near the venue. They all discuss the current landscape of country music, specific to females on the charts and how much different it was when Terri was coming up in the industry. She harmonizes with the guys singing one of her massive hits and we're still crying with her over her âOne That Got Away.ââ
Dan and Reid â who have written music for Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Scotty McCreery, Jon Pardi, Lainey Wilson and others â started their weekly podcast this year. Guests appearing on the show so far include HARDY, Dustin Lynch, Colbie Caillat and others.
âOne of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,â Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when Godâs Country launched. They hope to âbring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre â a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We canât wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.â
